August 12, 2011, sponsored by the Weavers Guild at the Textile Center, Indigo with Dagmar Klos. This is a moderately smelly, mysterious, wonderful process. The whole building smelled more or less like rotten eggs when all was said and done. But we had a blast.
I think I want an indigo vat in my yard! I dyed a cotton dress, crocheted lace, various shades of alpaca, cormo, ingeo, silk, corriedale and romney. I also over-dyed some of the flooring from an old installation and a couple of sheets of handmade paper.
The wet goods came home in a bucket to be hung to dry for a week before I actually wash and rinse them. A certain amount of the indigo is sure to wash out.
